Buy a CORSAR Card Today!

May 10, 2016

Do you mountain bike? If so, buy a Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue (CORSAR) Card!

Only 28% of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office mountain bike-related search/rescue operations have been reimbursed as Tier 1 or Tier II searches from Colorado’s Search and Rescue Fund since 2006. This means 72% of those searches received little or no reimbursement. The Sheriff’s Office has requested COPMOBA’s assistance in promoting the CORSAR Card in the mountain biking community. With a CORSAR Card, 100% of eligible expenses are reimbursed from the Search and Rescue Fund. With limited funding for these purposes, Sheriffs’ Offices, local search and rescue organizations, and Colorado taxpayers all benefit from a higher percentage of reimbursement. Cards are $3 per year or $12 for 5 years, and are available locally or online. For more information, to [more...]

February 1, 2016
Colorado Parks & Wildlife Non-Motorized Recreational Trail Grant Update!

Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) released the 2016 Non-Motorized Recreational Trail Grant scores and recommendations for funding. The GREAT news is the COPMOBA Regional Trails Large Construction Grant (Ridgway Trails Project and Spring Creek Trail Connectors) is recommended for FULL funding of $200,000! The bad news is the COPMOBA Uncompahgre Singletrack Planning Grant is not recommended for funding.

There are two more steps in the process before grants are actually awarded. The initial funding recommendations have to be agreed upon by CPW as their “Funding Strategy” for the year at a meeting to be held on Friday, January 29th. The “Final Funding Approval” meeting is then scheduled for March 9-10.

While we are disappointed the Planning Grant is not recommended for the Uncompahgre Chapter, we will continue to [more...]
