October 4th: Kid's Ride, REI Grant, Trail Building, and Kevin Foote Award!
Posted: Monday, November 03, 2008

October 4th was a BIG day for mountain biking and COPMOBA. That morning we had a grand opening and trail dedication of “Kids Meal” the Tabeguache Trail equivalent of “Rustlers Loop” trail at the Kokopelli Loops area. Thanks to a lot of hard work and effort by a number of people to get the word out, we had TV cameras, newspapers and about 30 kids and their parents, from as far away as Aspen, to help us cut the ribbon and break the trail in...

Uncompahgre Chapter Report: Ridgway Grant
Posted: Saturday, November 01, 2008

The Uncompahgre Chapter is applying for a planning grant from the State Trails Program to further the development of the Ridgway Trails Project. Receiving this $45,000 grant will allow us to move the trail development on BLM and State Park lands along at a much faster pace than if we waited for the land agencies to address the project with existing staffing, funding and work loads...

BLM Resource Management Plan: MTB Representative Needed
Posted: Tuesday, September 30, 2008

The Grand Junction Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is beginning the process of revising their Resource Management Plan (RMP). The last RMP went into service in 1987 and the next 20 years of BLM activity will be guided by the new document. The BLM is looking for members of a sub-committee to help them in the process. This sub-committee will be active and participatory and will act as an advisory board on specific topics to insure a good range of alternatives. The purpose of this sub-committee is not consensus, but rather making sure they are covering a range of alternatives and differing opinions are expected...
