Board of Directors Openings

COPMOBA is a non-profit organization that is governed by a 14-member board of directors, made up of representatives from all of our chapters across western Colorado, and we have a few openings to fill. If you are passionate about singletrack trails and want to help steer the future of our organization across the region, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.

Our organization’s mission is to build, maintain, and advocate for singletrack trails, and our board members should be passionate about all parts of this mission. COPMOBA’s chapters are based in Grand Junction, Delta, Montrose, and Ridgway. Here are a few things that we ask of our board members:
-Our board meets quarterly at different locations in this area or via Zoom. Each chapter takes turns hosting the board meeting, and we ask that board members do their best to attend all meetings.
-Between meetings, we use email for daily/weekly communications, and we ask that board members be an active participant in these digital conversations.
-We form sub-committees to work on specific projects, and we hope that each board member participates in these committees for projects they are specifically interested in.
-The COPMOBA board is responsible for decision making and planning that affect the entire area that we cover, so we ask that board members have a strong desire and interest to participate in discussions and projects that aren’t specific to one chapter. It’s crucial that board members are able to think about and make decisions based off of the overall direction and impact of the total organization, and not just focus on the chapter in the area that the board member resides.
-If you are very passionate about a specific chapter of COPMOBA and want to give back to trails in that area, we suggest that you consider joining a local chapter committee instead of the COPMOBA board of directors.

If you have an interest in giving your time to support COPMOBA as a board member, please send a letter of introduction to trails@copmoba.org by Jan 4, 2021. Please include any pertinent information about yourself, an explanation of why you are interested in serving on the board, and any professional background and/or prior board experience you have that may make you a strong candidate for open board positions. Potential board candidates will be invited to join for a portion of our annual meeting to be held on Saturday, Jan 9, 2021.

You may also email any questions or requests for additional information to trails@copmoba.org. Thank you for supporting COPMOBA and local trails!
